as you scroll
through the fog
(should i say smog)
of internet poetry
let the winds of destiny
(sounds poetic, doesn't it?)
guide you
the wings of destiny
perhaps
not the hands of destiny
(the hands belong to fate, right?)
manifest destiny
destiny taking a turn
controlling your destiny
discovering this poem

Halloween
Halloween
Happy Jack-O-Lanterns
Are underneath the eaves
Little bat-winged creatures
Linger in the leaves
Only ghosts and goblins
Walk along the street
Everyone is prowling
Everyone is howling
Now's the time for TRICK or TREAT!

state of the union
state of the union
everything is not as it seems
no one believed it could happen
democracy dies in division
empathy follows it to the grave
misinformation becomes medicine
indoctrination not immunization
can you hear the liberty bell
no one believed it could happen
democracy dies in division
empathy follows it to the grave
misinformation becomes medicine
indoctrination not immunization
can you hear the liberty bell

good friday
good friday
the cool crimson evening
crawls through the window
reaching the bottle
between the limes and the salt
shot glasses leave short shadows
angled away to the right
on the radio
van morrison is overcome
thinking about a brown eyed girl
outside
the ozark sunset
holds back the night
the tequila
tastes
like summer

Christmas Eve
Christmas Eve
Candles burning through the night
Houses filled with soft orange light
Rings of green hang everywhere
It seems there’s something in the air
Shining stars on tops of trees
Tinsel shimmering in the breeze
Morning seems so far away
All await the break of day
Santa stops to check his list
Elves make sure no child is missed
Visitors will come and play
Everywhere on Christmas Day
Candles burning through the night
Houses filled with soft orange light
Rings of green hang everywhere
It seems there’s something in the air
Shining stars on tops of trees
Tinsel shimmering in the breeze
Morning seems so far away
All await the break of day
Santa stops to check his list
Elves make sure no child is missed
Visitors will come and play
Everywhere on Christmas Day
